Applied Behavior analysis is an objective field that focuses on evaluation and reliable measurement of human behavior. Interventions are designed, implemented, and evaluated systematically to improve human behaviors that are important to society.
The effectiveness of an individualized ABA-based intervention is implemented as follows:
- A specific behavior is targeted to increase or decrease goals that are measurable and objective are identified for the target behavior.
- A method of measuring the target behavior is set up and current levels of the behavior is measured which is called a baseline.
- The intervention for the target behavior is designed and then implemented and effectiveness of intervention is determined by continuous measurement of the target behavior adjustments are made, as needed, to maintain and/or increase the effectiveness of the intervention.
