Chiropractor

One who used his hands-on spinal cord manipulation and perform other alternative treatments and contribute to proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine. He will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. This profession is of great demand in India as many IT professionals are getting spinal injury as they are sitting long hours during their work hours. But we do not have this course provided in India!

Chiropractic: The student needs to complete 5 years bachelro degree in this profession. Currently there are 4 Universities in Australia offering theses Courses:

  • RMIT(Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology)
  • Macquarie University
  • Murdoch University
  • Central Queensland University

The average tuition fee is around Rs 15 lakhs per annum

IELTS: 6 in all bands with overall 6 ( in some places it is 6.5)

Academic: 60% CBSE, Biology, Physics, Chemistry

A person can work as Asst. Chiropractor after completion of the Bachelor Degree

The median Salary for Chiropractor is AU$ 69,209 (Rs 34.5 Lakhs) per annum

According to Indian Association of Chiropractic Doctors, there are only about 15 Chiropractic Clinics in India.

Average Salary for a novice Chiropractor is around 8 lakhs per annum in India.

There is no University accredited course available in India? Then how to get into this field?

Audiologist

Audiologists are specialized in identifying, monitoring ,diagnosing and treating auditory disorders of the ear system. Audiologists are trained to diagnose and treat hearing balance problems.

The undergraduate course duration is 4 years. However min of 5 years of study is required for accreditation. The average annual tuition fee is around $ 28 – 30 Thousand (Rs. 14 Lakh) The median salary for an Audiologist is $ 69,234. (Rs 35 Lakhs)

There are many colleges in India offering Audiologist course. The Tuition fee varies between Rs 20,000 to 2,00,000 per annum. The median salary for an Audiologist in India is Rs 5.25 lakhs.

Podiatrist

Podiatry is the branch of medicine in which the treatment of lower legs, foot and ankle are handled. A Podiatrist is responsible for treating abnormal growth of toenails , calluses, and arch problems. They involved in performing surgery, prescribe drugs and provide physical therapy. They also treat ankle and foot injuries and infections.

The podiatry study in India is not very popular in India. The degree awarded is DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine).

According to Indian Podiatry Association IPA in India there are 65 million people suffering with Diabetes and out of these 25 % of patients suffer with Foot ulcers and also states that over one lakh Diabetic Patients lose their legs or feet in one year due to lack of proper treatment and advice. There are very few hospitals or clinic in India which have dedicated Podiatrist or Doctor dealing in Diabetic foot care which is a good area education which is in demand in India.

Pathway to become a Podiatrist:

India: 10 + 2 with Biology. Entrance Exam for Medical College. Total duration 4 to 6 years

Australia: 10+2 with Maths and Physics. Total Duration 4 years

  • Australia: Rs 64 Lakhs to Rs 80 Lakhs.

This profession is in growing demand as every day high raising structurs are getting build across the world.

Optometry

Optometry is a healthcare profession who deal with eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, detection , diagnosing and management of disease in the eye. They work toward the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system

Pathways:

India : To become Optometrists, you have to completed 4 year bachelor degree program, preferably in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, or physiology. You will require a bachelor’s degree to apply for optometry programs. Optometry programs typically take an additional four years to complete. All optometrists have to pass rigorous nationally administered exams to earn their license to practice

Agriculture Engineering

Agricultural engineer is the branch of engineering that applies engineering, science and technology practices to the efficient production and processing of food, feed, fiber and fuels. This course has been created by merging the principles of animal biology, plant biology, mechanical, civil, electrical and chemical engineering.

Prosthetist and Orthotist

A prosthetist, is a person who measures, designs, fabricates, fits, or services a prosthesis as prescribed by a licensed physician and who assists in the formulation of the prosthesis prescription for the replacement of external parts of the human body lost due to amputation or Congenital Deformities or absences

Pathways:

India: The minimum educational requirement to become a prosthetist and orthotist is a four and half year degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from a recognised university. After graduation, in order to practice as prosthetist and orthotist in India candidates must register with Rehabilitation Council of India.

Australia: 10+2 with minimum 75%. Duration 4 years

Fees:

  • India: Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 Lakhs in merit quota. Variable in Management quota ( upto Rs 60 lakhs)

Applied Behavior Analyst

Applied Behavior analysis is an objective field that focuses on evaluation and reliable measurement of human behavior. Interventions are designed, implemented, and evaluated systematically to improve human behaviors that are important to society.

The effectiveness of an individualized ABA-based intervention is implemented as follows:

  • A specific behavior is targeted to increase or decrease goals that are measurable and objective are identified for the target behavior.
  • A method of measuring the target behavior is set up and current levels of the behavior is measured which is called a baseline.
  • The intervention for the target behavior is designed and then implemented and effectiveness of intervention is determined by continuous measurement of the target behavior adjustments are made, as needed, to maintain and/or increase the effectiveness of the intervention.

Certification in the field of behavior analysis began in Florida, USA in the 1990’s, became a nationally recognized certification in the USA in 1998, and then internationally recognized certification occurred in 2000.

According to the BCBA website currently, there are over 10,000 BCBA practicing around the world.
